What is a Fresh 48 Session, you may be asking? This is a type of session that is gaining popularity across the United States, but here in Southern Oregon it seems to be less known. A Fresh 48 Session takes place within the first 48 hours of a birth and is meant to document the new baby and family in the hospital or place of birth. This is a great option if you are not quite ready to have a photographer at the birth, but still want photographs of your precious new baby in those first hours after being born. Babies change so much, even in the first week, that I believe it is incredibly important to have professional photos that capture all of the tiny details soon forgotten.
Recently I had the joy of photographing Melissa, Benjamin and baby Ezra while they were still in the hospital recovering. I arrived to their hospital room and immediately felt welcome there, they are a sweet couple and I am so happy for them! Baby Ezra slept soundly for much of the session and when he awoke he was ready to nurse. I always encourage Moms to nurse during our sessions and I am happy to wait or continue photographing, whichever Mom is more comfortable with. I was able to get a variety of shots with Ezra sleeping and awake, and I even captured those precious little wrinkled toes.
I hope you enjoy the photos from this Fresh 48 session! I would love to hear your thoughts, have you heard of a Fresh 48 before? Leave a comment below!
